GLOBAL WARMING Tree Planting Advocacy with the CBIS parents

Our School, Caleb British International School is participating in the British Council International School Award. We are working on seven projects and one of them is Global Warming – Time to Act. It is an interdisciplinary project to share the concerns for the environment in order to evoke the students, parents and community interests to re-use, reduce and recycle for sustainable future and to mitigate Global Warming.

GLOBAL WARMING, IT'S TIME TO ACT!

  By 2030, the international community has agreed to ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including global citizenship. Hence, our project focus has been Sustainability, Advocacy and Recycling (SDG 12) through interdisciplinary and innovative learning (SDG 4) to tackle the issues of Climate change (SDG 13) and to protect the lives on our planet, Earth (SDG 14 and 15). Recycling is one of the most practical ways of taking action for the survival of our planet. We have created series of artworks using recycled materials including the SDG boxes held in these images by our green champions from Caleb British International School. We have also used old newspapers to create collage works, pappier mache and 3D sustainability art projects. It is scientifically proven for every ton of recycled newspaper, 17 trees are saved. TREE PLANTING FOR THE EARTH DAY 2022

  On Thursday April 28, 2022, we continued our Tree planting advocacy as we celebrated the International Earth Day (actual date was April 22) …This was also one of our British Council ISA Activities, GLOBAL WARMING; we planted trees among which was Pride of Barbados to mitigate in the future the impacts of global warming. On  March 18, we took action to celebrate the Global Recycling Day. Recycling is one of the most practical ways of taking action for the survival of our planet. Recycling saves energy and water, lowers pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and helps to mitigate Global Warming. For every ton of recycled newspaper, 17 trees are saved. We shared our recycled projects, creativity and innovations with the students of Aspire Educational Complex, Ghana . It was an educative and exciting session between the students of Aspire Educational Complex, Ghana and Year 7 students, British Section of Caleb British International School, Nigeria, all for preserving the future of our planet.     Caleb teacher, Olusegun Adeniyi is one of the two Nigerian teachers named in the top 50 shortlist for the $1 Million Global Teacher Prize 2021 from over 8,000 nominations and applications from 121 countries around the world. Art teacher Olusegun Adeniyi, who teaches at Caleb British International School, Lagos, Nigeria, is not only renowned for bringing out the creative side of his fortunate students with two decades of nurturing new talent and creating stimulating art projects.
